Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde performed Maha Abhishek rituals at the Vitthal Rukmini Temple in Wadala, Mumbai on the occasion of Ashadi Ekadashi. The ritual included a consecration ceremony using milk, as thousands of devotees across the state celebrated the spiritually significant day.

Addressing the gathering, Shinde extended his greetings to the people of Maharashtra, especially the Warkari community, and announced a ₹25 crore government grant for the temple’s redevelopment. “This is an ancient temple and soon, devotees will enjoy better facilities,” he said.

Shinde added that he prayed for the prosperity of the state, farmers, women and youth, invoking Lord Panduranga’s blessings for all.

Shiv Sena leader Raju Waghmare also marked the occasion by offering wishes to the public, saying, “Panduranga’s blessing will be upon all Ladki Bahin and Ladke Bhau.”

The event also saw political commentary, with Waghmare criticising Uddhav Thackeray for aligning with Raj Thackeray, stating that the Shiv Sena (UBT) was “on the verge of extinction.” He claimed that Marathi voters continued to back Eknath Shinde’s leadership, citing the party’s recent electoral success.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena spokesperson Manisha Kayande called the day “auspicious for Sanatan Dharma”, highlighting the unity of devotees from all communities at Pandharpur.

BJP leader Prasad Lad took the opportunity to promote the idea of a Hindutva Nation and target Uddhav Thackeray’s motives behind the so-called “victory rally”, questioning his political intentions and expressing hope for a return to saffron values.

Earlier, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis performed rituals at the main Vitthal Rukmini Temple in Pandharpur. He described the Wari pilgrimage as a spiritual force that unites people with divine energy and said he prayed for the progress of Maharashtra and prosperity for farmers.
