Chief minister Mamata Banerjee urged CREDAI to take part in the construction of industrial parks and logistics hubs and assured every cooperation to the builders.
She was addressing the CREDAI West Bengal Statecon2023 at Dhana Dhanya auditorium this afternoon. “We have a land bank and the freehold land facility are helping the builders. The state government is ready to cooperate with you. There is a proposal to simplify the building rules of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and the municipal building rules which will further benefit the building. The reduction of stamp duty has helped them too,” she remarked.
Miss Banerjee said there are unscrupulous builders who have cheated the buyers.
The state government and police have received several complaints against them and asked the authorities of CREDAI to take action against them.
“A person spends life’s savings to buy a flat. These builders take money from them but do not give the flat. We have received complaints. We will send the complaints to you and such promoters should be blacklisted,” she said.
The chief minister urged the CREDAI members to take part in the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) which will be held in November. “BGBS will be held on 22- 23 November and the pre-conference dinner will be held on 21 November. Our thrust area is MSME and we expect CREDAI to take part in the two day conference in a big way.”
She said if the developers face any problem they should immediately get in touch with the state government.
“You can either lodge a complaint with me or can go to Duare Sarkar camps to lodge complaints.”
Without naming the BJP she said, “They are sending the agencies to scare the builders. They have sent agencies to my family also. Don’t get scared. Work with sincerity and honesty and you will reach the top.”
The chief minister said businessmen across the world have shown keen interest in Bengal. She is going to Europe to talk to some businessmen next week.
“It is most unfortunate that there are media which always project Bengal in a negative light. They show that no development has taken place in Bengal and there are only riots. Without naming the BJP she said the media houses are scared of them as agencies will be sent against them if they try to flout their instructions.”
Miss Banerjee said there are skilled construction workers in Malda, Murshidabad and North Dinajpur.
“There are people who take them to other states and foreign countries with hiked wages. But they do not give them any social security. I would request CREDAI to take steps to bring them back and use them here.”
She requested the builders to set up houses for people belonging to the economically weaker section.
