Heavy rainfall on Saturday brought several parts of Delhi to a standstill, with areas such as Vasant Kunj, R.K. Puram, Connaught Place, and Minto Bridge witnessing intense showers. Waterlogging was reported at Panchkuian Marg, while traffic near AIIMS and the Barapullah Bridge slowed to a crawl due to the downpour.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted thunderstorms with rain for the day, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected at 36°C and 27°C, respectively. The capital is likely to experience rainfall with thunderstorms until August 12.

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh remains on high alert as the IMD predicts continued heavy rainfall in several districts over the next few days. An Orange Alert has been issued for three districts on August 11 and 12, while the rest are under a Yellow Alert.

Monsoon-related disasters have already claimed 202 lives in the state since June 20 — 108 from rain, floods, and landslides, and 94 in road accidents. Rainfall in Himachal this month is 35% above normal, with Solan, Kullu, Kinnaur, Bilaspur, and Una receiving nearly double their average precipitation. From June 1 to August 8, the state recorded 13% more rainfall than the seasonal average, with Shimla and Mandi seeing up to 65% above normal levels.

Despite the excess rainfall, officials say no major flood warnings have been issued so far, as precipitation in many areas has eased in recent days.
