Folk artists performed in Odisha’s Jharsuguda ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, where he will lay the foundation stones and inaugurate projects worth over Rs 60,000 crore.
During the visit, the PM will also address a public gathering and commission more than 97,500 4G mobile towers, including over 92,600 sites by BSNL, built with indigenous technology at a cost of around Rs 37,000 crore, enhancing connectivity in remote, border, and Maoism-affected areas.
In a post on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote: “Will be in Jharsuguda, Odisha, to inaugurate developmental works worth over Rs. 50,000 crore. In a historic feat, over 97,500 telecom towers across India would be commissioned using local technologies, boosting connectivity in remote and underdeveloped areas.”
Other projects include the development of rail connectivity, expansion of IIT infrastructure, skill development centres, housing, and more, in line with the PM’s vision of a Viksit Bharat, ensuring all-around development for the poor and downtrodden.
The initiatives are expected to improve freight and passenger movement in Odisha and neighbouring states, strengthen local industries, support tourism, create employment opportunities, and link key economic districts. As part of the visit, PM Modi will also flag off the Amrit Bharat Express between Berhampur and Udhna (Surat).
Healthcare infrastructure will receive a major boost with the foundation stone being laid for the upgradation of MKCG Medical College in Berhampur and VIMSAR in Sambalpur into world-class super-speciality hospitals. The upgraded facilities will feature expanded bed capacity, trauma care units, dental colleges, maternal and child care services, and enhanced academic infrastructure.
These projects are expected to provide comprehensive health services and significantly enhance the quality of life for the people of Odisha.
