The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has announced a three-day disruption in Cauvery water supply across Greater Bengaluru from September 15 to 17 due to emergency maintenance works at major pumping stations.

BWSSB Chairman Dr. V Ram Prasath Manohar stated that the shutdown is necessary to carry out essential maintenance for the smooth and long-term functioning of the Cauvery Water Supply Project. He appealed to residents to store sufficient water in advance to meet their needs during this period.

The disruption is expected to impact several areas across the city.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar recently announced plans to expand Cauvery water supply to rural areas. He revealed that work is underway to pump water from near Sangama to 250 villages in Kanakapura taluk, alongside other projects that draw from the Shimsha and Arkavathi rivers to fill tanks in different hoblis.
