A bomb threat targeting the Delhi High Court led to panic and disruption of court proceedings on Friday, sources confirmed. The threat was reportedly sent via email by an unidentified individual.
The email, addressed to High Court staff, carried the subject line: “Pakistan Tamil Nadu collude for Holy Friday blasts. 3 bombs planted in judge room/court premises. Evacuate by 2pm.” It claimed that three bombs had been planted within the court premises and alleged involvement of Pakistan. The sender’s email ID has been identified as [email protected].
“The assets within the Police have been sown since 2017, for this Holy Friday. As a sample, today’s blast in your Delhi High Court will clear the doubt of previous bluffs. Judge Chamber will detonate shortly after Mid-Day Islamic Prayers,” the email reportedly stated.
Following the warning, all benches of the High Court rose immediately, and lawyers, litigants, and staff were evacuated from the premises, creating scenes of chaos as people rushed out of the court complex.
Delhi Police confirmed they are investigating the threat. This comes amid a series of similar incidents in the capital, including bomb threats to Maulana Azad Medical College and the Delhi Chief Minister’s Secretariat on September 9. In earlier cases, such as the bomb threat emails received by 20 colleges on August 28, investigations revealed them to be hoaxes, with suspects reportedly using VPNs to conceal their identity.
The Delhi High Court and security agencies are continuing to monitor the situation closely.
