BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj on Friday offered prayers at the Jhandewalan Temple in Delhi on the fifth day of Navratri, a festival dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga.

After performing the Mangala Aarti, Swaraj said, “I had the good fortune of performing Mangala Aarti at Jhandewalan Temple. May Mata Rani bring happiness to the lives of everyone.” Devotees also gathered at Shree Adya Katyayani Shaktipeeth Mandir in Chhatarpur, New Delhi, to participate in the celebrations.

The fifth day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Skandamata, revered as a symbol of unconditional love, compassion, and motherly care.

As part of the festivities, Swaraj participated in a Dandiya performance on Thursday night during a Ramleela event in Rohini Sector 23, Bawana constituency. Organised for the first time by Sanatan Sanskaram, the event has drawn significant public participation and aimed to connect the younger generation with India’s cultural and religious heritage.

Delhi Cabinet Minister Ravindra Singh Indraj also joined the celebrations, while Swaraj shared the stage with Indraj’s wife and other women during the Dandiya dance. The event was marked by thousands of attendees waving mobile phone torches in her honour. Olympic medallists and wrestlers Ravi Dahiya and Deepak Punia also attended and interacted with the public. A Ram Baraat procession earlier in the day added to the grandeur of the festivities.

Addressing the gathering, Swaraj thanked Delhi residents for their support, noting, “After 27 years, Delhi has chosen a BJP government again. With the double-engine government at the Centre and in Delhi, we are witnessing historic development.” She also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, including the removal of taxes on food items and reductions in GST rates.

Swaraj lauded Sanatan Sanskaram for organising the successful Ramleela, describing it as a “vital cultural platform” that promotes values, traditions, and community engagement among youth. Despite being the organisation’s first event, the overwhelming response highlighted the public’s enthusiasm for religious and cultural celebrations during the Navratri season.
