A horrifying case of child abduction and murder has shaken Bengaluru, after a 12-year-old boy, Nishchit, was allegedly kidnapped and later killed by unidentified assailants near Bannerghatta on Thursday evening.

The Class 7 student, son of a college professor, had gone for tuition from his home in the Shantiniketan block of Arakere when he was abducted on his way back.

According to Bengaluru Rural SP C.K. Baba, the kidnappers soon contacted the boy’s parents using an unknown number and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh, threatening them not to inform the police.

Despite the threat, Nishchit’s father lodged a complaint at the Hulimavu Police Station, prompting an immediate investigation using CCTV footage and mobile tracking.

While the family prepared the ransom, the kidnappers, allegedly learning of the police involvement, killed the boy by tying him up, beating him, and setting his body on fire using petrol poured over a roadside stone, police said.

The boy’s partially burned body was later recovered from a deserted area on Kaggalipur Road, with preliminary investigations indicating a violent and brutal assault before death.

Senior officers, including Electronic City DCP Narayan and SP C.K. Baba, visited the crime scene, which bore clear signs of a gruesome murder.

Police have registered a case of kidnapping and murder, and an intensive search operation is underway to track down the culprits.
