The Shibarium Trustwatch team has issued a crucial warning to the Shiba Inu community about a new scam involving the recently launched meme coin, SHIFU.

According to the advisory, fraudsters are asking victims to send emails containing details about the coin.

The warning highlights that scammers are targeting individuals by requesting information on how to buy or claim SHIFU or reporting that SHIFU has not appeared in their wallets.

“Fraudsters are asking people to send them an email asking how to buy and claim SHIFU or if SHIFU has not appeared in their wallet,” the alert stated.

Stay Alert: Avoid Sharing Personal Information
The Shibarium Trustwatch team has urged users to stay vigilant and avoid sending emails to unknown entities. They also emphasized verifying information through official channels and refraining from sharing personal or sensitive details with unverified sources.

What is SHIFU Coin?

Introduced in early December by Shytoshi Kusama, the pseudonymous lead developer of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, SHIFU is a dog-themed meme coin. While the token is available for trading on certain decentralized exchanges, major platforms like Binance have yet to list it.

This week, the SHIFU project announced a special airdrop where 30% of the coin’s total supply—amounting to 30 billion SHIFU—will be distributed to the community. The breakdown includes:
– 22 billion SHIFU for SHIB holders (minimum of 100,000 SHIB and 100 BUBBLE).
– 2 billion SHIFU for eligible LEASH holders.
– 1 billion SHIFU for select BONE holders.

The remaining 70% of SHIFU’s supply is designated for liquidity, public pre-sales, treasury, and market initiatives.

Past Warnings Against Scams
Shiba Inu’s extensive community base often becomes a target for scams. Last month, Shibarium Trustwatch warned users to avoid individuals offering services involving SHI and TREAT tokens, which are not yet live.

Additionally, the team cautioned against fraudulent groups impersonating Shytoshi Kusama to promote fake tokens. They advised users to follow official X accounts, including those of Shiba Inu, Shytoshi Kusama, Kaal Dhairya, and Treat, for reliable updates.

“Always verify the authenticity of any group or token before participating. Stay vigilant and protect yourself and others from these scams,” the team reiterated in a previous alert.

The community is encouraged to remain cautious and prioritize security to prevent falling victim to these scams.
