Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday highlighted the remarkable growth of India’s electronics manufacturing sector, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative for the transformation.

Speaking at the 14th Convocation of IIT Hyderabad, Vaishnaw said that in the last 11 years, India’s electronics production has increased six times, while electronics exports have grown eightfold, crossing $40 billion.

“Our country has progressed rapidly in electronics manufacturing. This growth has only been possible due to Prime Minister Modi’s Make in India programme,” Vaishnaw said during his address.

He also underlined India’s strides in AI development and technological accessibility, emphasizing the government’s vision to democratize advanced technologies.

“Today, we are building our own AI models, reflecting the diversity of our languages and culture. This is the power of making technology accessible to all—not just a select few,” he said.

Vaishnaw further stated that India has built a large talent pool in semiconductors and is moving toward becoming one of the top five semiconductor nations in the world.

“Nowhere else has a country launched such a large-scale talent programme in semiconductors. Amid global technological and economic shifts, India stands strong on the foundation laid by our Prime Minister,” he concluded.
