Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 on Friday, highlighting the nation’s optimism and preparedness for the future of mobility. He praised India’s automotive sector as “fantastic and future-ready,” underscoring its rapid growth and potential.

Addressing the audience, PM Modi remarked, “In the next 5 to 6 days, a large number of people will visit the Expo, and many new vehicles will be launched. This reflects the immense positivity surrounding the future of mobility in India.”

During his speech, PM Modi paid tribute to industry legends Ratan Tata and Osamu Suzuki for their transformative contributions to India’s automotive sector. “I remember Ratan Tata ji and Osamu Suzuki ji today. They have significantly contributed to fulfilling the dreams of India’s middle class and the growth of our auto sector. Their legacy will continue to inspire the entire mobility sector of India,” he said.

PM Modi emphasized the aspirations and energy driving India’s automotive industry, noting its remarkable growth. “Over the past few years, India’s auto industry has grown by about 12%. Following the mantra of ‘Make in India, Make for the World,’ exports are also increasing. With around 25 million vehicles sold annually, India’s demand is steadily rising. This is why the world sees India with high hopes when it comes to the future of mobility,” he stated.

Highlighting India’s efforts to reduce its dependency on fossil fuels, PM Modi said, “We are working on a mobility system that supports both economy and ecology. This includes focusing on green technologies like EVs, hydrogen fuel, and biofuels.”

He also credited the Make in India initiative and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for driving the sector’s development. “The PLI scheme has led to sales exceeding ₹2.25 lakh crore and created more than 1.5 lakh direct jobs in the auto sector,” he noted.

This year’s Expo, themed “Beyond Boundaries: Co-creating Future Automotive Value Chain,” aims to foster collaboration and innovation across the automotive and mobility sectors. It focuses on sustainable and cutting-edge technological advancements.

The event, running from January 17-22, is being held at three venues: Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, and the India Expo Center and Mart in Greater Noida.
