On International Women’s Day, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani shared a heartfelt message reaffirming his commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Reflecting on the women who shaped his life — from his resilient mother to his dedicated wife, Priti Adani — and his growing hopes for his three granddaughters, Adani spoke of his personal and professional mission to break barriers for women everywhere.
In a touching social media post, Adani recalled a silent vow he made a decade ago while holding his first granddaughter’s hand — a promise to help build a world where women’s aspirations would know no limits and their voices would be respected equally. “Now, blessed with three beautiful granddaughters, this promise burns brighter and more urgent than ever,” he wrote.
Adani highlighted the vital role his wife plays through the Adani Foundation, which has transformed lives across rural India, and spoke of the foundation’s initiatives like the Butterfly Effect framework and the Lakhpati Didis program, which has enabled over 1,000 women to achieve financial independence through entrepreneurial training.
His personal commitment to creating opportunities for women deepened after a visit to one of Adani’s port projects, where he noticed the lack of women in operational and leadership roles. This realization led him to push for more inclusive policies and mentorship opportunities within the company.
Despite progress, Adani acknowledged the long road ahead, expressing hope that his granddaughters would one day walk into boardrooms where they are treated as equals. “The world you inherit should be one where your brilliance is met with open doors, not glass ceilings,” he wrote in a touching note addressed to them.
Concluding his message, Adani called on men in leadership positions to take responsibility for driving gender equality, emphasizing that the talents and insights of women are invaluable resources the world cannot afford to waste.
As this year’s International Women’s Day theme, Accelerate Action, urges global efforts toward inclusion, Adani’s message serves as a powerful reminder of the work still needed — and the promise of a future where every woman can thrive.
