At a time when the world is witnessing rising conflicts and divisions, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday delivered a strong message of peace, unity, and shared humanity, drawing inspiration from the teachings of Lord Mahavira.
Speaking at the Mahavir Janma Kalyanak celebrations organised by the S.S. Jain Sabha in Jammu, Sinha urged people to embrace non-violence and mutual respect as guiding principles in today’s turbulent global landscape.
A Timely Message of Peace and Understanding
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the relevance of Ahimsa (non-violence) and Anekantavada (respect for diverse viewpoints) in resolving modern-day conflicts. He stressed that these ancient principles are more important than ever in a world grappling with instability.
“Humanity today needs empathy, brotherhood, and understanding. These are not optional values but essential for peaceful coexistence,” Sinha said, calling for collective introspection.
Teachings That Transcend Time
Sinha noted that Lord Mahavira’s philosophy—based on right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct—offers a roadmap for building a compassionate and harmonious society. He emphasised that these teachings are not limited to spiritual growth but are equally relevant for global peace and social cohesion.
India’s Global Message of Peace
Highlighting India’s role on the global stage, the Lieutenant Governor credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for promoting a vision where peace is seen as a strength.
He said India continues to inspire the world by advocating dialogue, cooperation, and bridge-building instead of conflict, reinforcing its position as a voice of balance and wisdom.
Call for Collective Responsibility
Urging citizens to take shared responsibility for a better future, Sinha said true progress is rooted in accountability, understanding, and respect for diversity.
He encouraged people to embrace different cultures, perspectives, and experiences to build stronger societal trust and unity.
Inner Transformation for Nation-Building
Reflecting on Lord Mahavira’s teachings, Sinha highlighted the importance of self-discipline and inner transformation. He pointed out that values such as truth, non-possession, restraint, and awareness are crucial not only for personal growth but also for shaping a stronger nation.
“The character we build defines the impact we create,” he said, leaving the audience with a message of reflection and responsibility.
