Apple on Tuesday unveiled the iPhone 17, the newest addition to its standard iPhone lineup, priced at USD 799. The launch, streamed live on Apple’s YouTube channel, showcased major upgrades in display technology and camera performance.
The iPhone 17 now features a 6.3-inch OLED screen with slimmer bezels and an adaptive 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, previously exclusive to Pro models. The display reaches up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, the highest ever on an iPhone.
On the camera front, Apple introduced a 48MP “dual fusion” system that merges main and telephoto functions, offering a 24MP default resolution for efficient storage and 2x optical-quality zoom. A new 48MP fusion ultrawide lens delivers four times the resolution of the iPhone 16.
The front camera has also seen a major update: a 12MP Centre Stage sensor, now square-shaped, enables high-quality selfies in both portrait and landscape orientations without rotating the device. Users can also expand the field-of-view directly from the Camera app.
With its sharper display, upgraded cameras, and adaptive ProMotion technology, the iPhone 17 marks one of the most significant updates to Apple’s standard iPhone series in recent years.
