Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday hit out at the Congress, accusing it of creating “illusions” among people while struggling with “frustration” after repeated electoral defeats.

Speaking to ANI, Shah contrasted the BJP’s outreach with that of the Congress, led by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, stressing that the difference lies in genuine public connect.

“There is a big difference between managing a program and communicating with the public. They (Congress) want to create illusions, but they will not succeed. Our direct interaction with people is many times greater than theirs. After losing three elections, the frustration has reached a level where even normal judgment seems to be lost,” Shah said.

Responding to Opposition criticism of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) presence in Parliament, Shah clarified that personnel deployed inside the House function only as Marshals under the authority of the Speaker, irrespective of their original force.

“Earlier it used to be Delhi Police, now it is CISF. But once inside Parliament, they are not CISF or Delhi Police — they are Marshals, and they enter only on the Speaker’s orders,” Shah explained.

Congress had alleged that CISF deployment in Rajya Sabha was an “insult to Parliament.” Party leader Jairam Ramesh accused the Modi government of undermining democratic rights of Opposition MPs, while LoP Mallikarjun Kharge questioned if Shah had taken “control of the Council of States.”

Rejecting the charges, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said only Marshals are permitted inside the House, dismissing Opposition claims as misleading.
