Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Monday announced a revision of metro fares across the capital, with an increase ranging between Rs 1 and Rs 4 depending on distance travelled. On the Airport Express Line, the hike ranges from Rs 1 to Rs 5.
According to DMRC, the base fare has been raised from Rs 10 to Rs 11. “The passenger fares of the Delhi Metro services have been revised with effect from 25th August 2025. The increase is minimal, ranging from Rs 1 to Rs 4 only (up to Rs 5 for the Airport Express Line),” DMRC said in a post on X.
- 0–2 km: Rs 11 (earlier Rs 10)
- 2–5 km: Rs 21
- 5–12 km: Rs 32
- 12–21 km: Rs 43
- 21–32 km: Rs 54
- Beyond 32 km: Rs 64
On Sundays and national holidays, the fares have also been marginally revised, with the maximum fare capped at Rs 54.
This is the first fare revision since 2017, when the base price was raised from Rs 8 to Rs 10, and the maximum fare beyond 32 km was fixed at Rs 50.
The fare hike has drawn mixed reactions from passengers.
“A middle-class family cannot afford the metro fares. Some people can, but some cannot. The fares should not be increased so that the middle class can also afford them,” said Sonia, a commuter.
Another passenger, Armaan, noted that while a Rs 2–4 hike may not be significant, convenience remains an issue. “The government should make the payment process easier. The Metro Card does not work everywhere. That is a major issue,” he said.
