Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of attempting to create chaos in the country for political advantage. He also claimed that the Congress in Assam has already conceded defeat ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

In a video message on X, Sarma said, “The Assam Congress has already accepted its defeat in the upcoming assembly elections. Their president himself admits that while BJP is in contact with leaders of other parties, no one is speaking to Congress leaders.”

Sarma further alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s statements in Parliament showed indirect support for Pakistan. “Rahul Gandhi can go to any extent to create unrest in the country — sometimes in the name of religion, sometimes in the name of votes. I have never heard anything positive from him. The way they supported Pakistan in Parliament was crystal clear. People will definitely teach him a lesson,” he added.

Separately, Sarma announced that 55 acres of land were freed from encroachment in Assam’s Biswanath district as part of the government’s ongoing eviction drive. He reiterated that the crackdown on illegal settlers would continue until “every inch of Assam’s land” is reclaimed.

Amid the drive, the Chief Minister accused the Congress of “mourning for infiltrators” evicted during the operation.
