Air India Thiruvananthapuram–Delhi Flight Makes Precautionary Diversion to Chennai

An Air India flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi was diverted to Chennai on Sunday evening due to a suspected technical issue coupled with adverse weather along its route, the airline confirmed.

Flight AI2455, which was scheduled to depart at 7:15 pm, took off at 8:17 pm and was expected to land in Delhi by 10:45 pm. However, the aircraft made a precautionary diversion and landed safely in Chennai instead, according to Flightradar24 data.

“The flight crew of AI2455 operating from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi on August 10 made a precautionary diversion to Chennai due to a suspected technical issue and prevailing weather conditions en route. The aircraft will now undergo the necessary checks,” an Air India spokesperson said.

The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience and assured that its ground staff in Chennai are assisting passengers and arranging alternative flights to their destinations. Air India reiterated that passenger and crew safety remains its highest priority.
