Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday praised Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his powerful address in the Rajya Sabha, highlighting the government’s stance on national security and the success of Operation Sindoor.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote, “A phenomenal speech by Home Minister Amit Shah in the Rajya Sabha. He categorically expressed our government’s point of view on key aspects relating to national security, uprooting terror networks and the success of Operation Sindoor.”

Amit Shah had delivered the speech during a special discussion in the Upper House on India’s military response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. Emphasizing India’s assertive approach under PM Modi’s leadership, Shah said, “Earlier, we only kept sending dossiers, but under the leadership of Narendra Modi, we have given a befitting reply to Pakistan with an airstrike and surgical strike. Khauf paida ho gaya hain (a sense of fear has been instilled).”

Shah took aim at the Congress, asserting that the party had no moral ground to question the BJP on matters of terrorism. He accused Congress of enabling the spread of terrorism through its votebank-driven appeasement politics.

“The only reason terrorism spread in the country was because of Congress’s votebank and appeasement politics,” Shah stated, adding that the Congress’s priorities have historically sidelined national security.

Following the address, a political confrontation unfolded in the House. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge demanded that Prime Minister Modi personally address the House on Operation Sindoor. The demand led to a heated exchange between Shah and Kharge.

In protest over PM Modi’s absence from the Rajya Sabha proceedings, Opposition MPs staged a walkout, intensifying the political standoff over the government’s handling and disclosure of the military operation.
