On the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful call for global unity, urging nations to adopt “inner peace as a global policy” and promote yoga as a shared international responsibility.

Addressing a massive gathering along the picturesque Visakhapatnam coastline, PM Modi emphasized the transformative power of yoga—not just for individuals, but for societies and the planet as a whole.

“Let this be the day when inner peace becomes a global policy, where yoga is embraced not just as a personal practice, but as a powerful tool for global partnership and unity,” he said.

The Prime Minister called for yoga to become a mass movement, rooted in peace, health, and harmony.

“Where every person begins their day with yoga and finds balance in life… where yoga becomes the thread binding humanity together… and where ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’ becomes a global resolution,” he urged.

As Indian Navy ships lined the coast and tens of thousands joined in the mass demonstration, Modi hailed Visakhapatnam for symbolizing the blend of nature and progress, thanking Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan for their “inspiring leadership” in hosting the event.

Reflecting on the journey since India’s 2014 proposal at the United Nations, Modi noted how more than 170 countries supported the resolution to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day, and how in just over a decade, yoga has become a universal symbol of peace and well-being.

PM Modi also emphasized yoga’s deeper message: “Yoga teaches us that we are not isolated individuals, but part of nature. It begins with self-care but gradually evolves into care for society, the environment, and the world,” he said. “Yoga is a journey from ‘Me’ to ‘We’.”

This year’s theme—”Yoga for One Earth, One Health”—resonated strongly with the event’s focus on global wellness, inclusivity, and sustainability.

Across India, and in nations around the world, millions participated in yoga events, underlining the growing global embrace of yoga not only as a health discipline but as a pathway to harmony and unity in an increasingly divided world.
