Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi joined the NSUI’s ‘Palayan Roko, Naukri Do’ rally in Begusarai, Bihar on Monday, lending support to the campaign aimed at highlighting rising unemployment, paper leaks, and the decline of government job opportunities in the state.
The rally, led by NSUI national in-charge Kanhaiya Kumar, is part of a broader movement to protest what the Congress calls a failure of the state and central governments to create meaningful job opportunities for the youth. Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to address a public meeting in Patna later in the day.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Gandhi called on Bihar’s youth to join him in the yatra, saying, “Young friends of Bihar, I will be coming to Begusarai… to show the world the spirit of Bihar’s youth, their struggles, and hardships.” He urged participants to wear white t-shirts as a symbol of solidarity and protest.
“This yatra is a call to action against unemployment, inflation, and privatisation. It’s about reclaiming your future and putting pressure on the government to deliver jobs,” Gandhi added.
The protest comes months ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, expected in October or November 2025, as political momentum builds in the state.
Rahul Gandhi’s previous visits to Bihar in January and February this year also focused on youth and employment issues, signaling that job creation will be a key poll plank for the Congress in the upcoming elections.
