Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring access to qualified doctors and enhancing healthcare facilities across India. Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre in Nagpur, PM Modi highlighted key healthcare reforms undertaken in the past decade.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the government has doubled the number of medical colleges and tripled the operational AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences).

He underscored the importance of regional language medical education, calling it a bold decision that allows students from underprivileged backgrounds to pursue medicine.

“For the first time since independence, we have enabled medical education in regional languages, ensuring that every aspiring student, regardless of background, can fulfill their dreams,” PM Modi said.

He also highlighted the fusion of modern medical knowledge with traditional practices like Yoga and Ayurveda, which are gaining global recognition.

PM Modi praised government healthcare initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, Jan Aushadhi Kendras, and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, which have made quality healthcare more affordable for millions of Indians.

“Due to Ayushman Bharat, crores of people are receiving free medical treatment. Thousands of Jan Aushadhi Kendras are providing affordable medicines to poor and middle-class families. Over 1,000 dialysis centers now offer free dialysis services,” he said.

The Prime Minister also noted the establishment of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in villages, reducing the need for people to travel long distances for medical check-ups.

While inaugurating Madhav Netralaya, PM Modi praised its decades-long contribution to eye care and medical services.

“This institution embodies service and dedication, following the vision of Guruji (MS Golwalkar). With this new facility, even the poorest of the poor will have access to quality eye care,” he stated.

The Prime Minister extended greetings on Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and Navreh, marking the beginning of the Hindu New Year.

He paid homage to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar at Deekshabhoomi, ahead of his birth anniversary next month, and honored RSS founder Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar at Smriti Mandir.

“This year marks 100 years of RSS’s journey, a moment of pride for the nation,” he added.

Through his speech, PM Modi reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening India’s healthcare system, ensuring better medical education, affordable treatment, and world-class infrastructure for all.
