The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to hold a crucial Parliamentary Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting at national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Friday to redefine leadership roles and political strategy after its electoral loss in Delhi.

According to party sources, Delhi MLA Atishi is expected to take on a more prominent role in the national capital as the Leader of the Opposition (LoP). She will spearhead political strategies to counter the BJP-led Delhi government, leading the party’s assembly agenda and key political attacks. However, the organisational responsibilities for AAP’s Delhi unit will remain with state convenor Gopal Rai, who will focus on strengthening and expanding the party structure. A major restructuring of the Delhi unit is expected in the coming month following PAC’s approval.

Beyond Delhi, AAP is prioritizing Punjab, Gujarat, and Goa—states where the party has gained a foothold. Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain will oversee AAP’s Punjab unit, assisting the state leadership in implementing the party’s core agendas, particularly in governance sectors like health and education. Their primary role will be to bridge communication between the Punjab government and AAP’s central leadership.

In Gujarat, where AAP made significant inroads in the 2022 Assembly elections, leadership responsibilities have been assigned to Gopal Rai and Durgesh Pathak in the absence of Sandeep Pathak. Their focus will be on assessing ground realities, preparing for upcoming by-polls, and expanding AAP’s presence, with a key decision looming on whether to ally with Congress or contest independently.

In Goa, where AAP has maintained a steady 6-7% vote share and holds two assembly seats, Saurabh Bharadwaj was initially considered to shift focus to the state. However, sources indicate that Durgesh Pathak may continue overseeing AAP’s affairs there as the party aims to replace Congress as the primary opposition force.

This leadership overhaul comes as AAP looks to consolidate its position in these states while navigating legal and political challenges in Delhi.
