Historic First: Vande Bharat Express Operated by All-Women Crew on International Women’s Day

In a groundbreaking move to celebrate International Women’s Day, the Central Railways has operated the Vande Bharat Express with an all-women crew for the first time. The train, running from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Shirdi, is fully staffed by women, including the loco pilot, assistant loco pilot, train manager, ticket examiners, and onboard hostesses.

Central Railways’ Chief Public Relations Officer, Swapnil Nila, highlighted that this initiative extends beyond passenger trains, with an all-women crew also operating a goods train. She expressed hopes to continue this effort on other Vande Bharat trains in the future.

The event was described as a “proud and historic moment” by Central Railways, recognizing the strength, dedication, and leadership of women in the railway sector. The social media announcement celebrated this achievement as a symbol of empowerment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to women’s strength and contributions on International Women’s Day, announcing that his social media platforms would be taken over by women from various fields, showcasing their accomplishments.
