The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to present the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) report in the Delhi Assembly on February 25, which allegedly highlights corruption by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) during their time in power. BJP MLA Harish Khurana expressed confidence that the report will reveal significant details, particularly concerning corruption and irregularities related to the excise policy, the renovation of the former Chief Minister’s residence (referred to as the “Sheesh Mahal” by BJP), and education policies.

Khurana stated, “The report will be presented in the House and many issues will come to light. I believe the truth will be exposed in the CAG report, whether it’s regarding education, liquor, or Sheesh Mahal. Several such matters will be raised in the House.”

The first session of the new Delhi Assembly will begin on February 24, where all newly elected MLAs will take their oaths and elect a new Speaker.

Khurana criticized AAP for not presenting the report during their tenure, adding that the BJP-led government will now operate “according to the rules and Constitution.” He emphasized, “The eighth assembly was formed yesterday, and its first session will begin tomorrow. The CAG report will be tabled the following day. This report should have been presented in the seventh assembly, as per the rules. Moving forward, the Delhi government will function strictly by the rules and Constitution.”

Meanwhile, AAP’s national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar attacked the BJP for not prioritizing their promises, particularly the Rs 2,500 monthly financial aid scheme for women in Delhi. Kakkar alleged that instead of focusing on their commitments, the BJP was pushing its own agenda by tabling the CAG report in the first session of the legislative assembly.

Kakkar remarked, “BJP should focus on fulfilling the promises they made to the people of Delhi, such as the Rs 2,500 per month for women. Instead, they are imposing their agenda.” She also pointed out that while AAP had fulfilled its promises promptly after coming to power, the BJP had not yet taken any initiative in its first cabinet meeting to deliver on their promises.
