“The Congress governed for 15 years, and AAP ruled for 13. Instead of reflecting on their own actions, how can they question us after just one day in power?” she remarked.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a strong rebuttal against Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday, following their criticisms of the newly formed government. She emphasized that her administration had already made significant decisions within its first day in office.

“The Congress governed for 15 years, and AAP ruled for 13. Instead of reflecting on their own actions, how can they question us after just one day in power?” she remarked.

Rekha Gupta highlighted her government’s swift actions, stating, “On day one, after taking the oath, we held a cabinet meeting and approved the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which had been blocked by AAP. We provided a Rs. 10 lakh benefit to the people of Delhi on our first day. They have no right to question us.”

She further underscored the BJP’s focus on the welfare of Delhi under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, declaring, “Delhi will get its due rights under PM Modi’s leadership. We will take care of Delhi now.”

Addressing the opposition parties, she criticized both AAP and Congress for internal issues, adding, “They should focus on managing their own parties, as many of their members are looking to leave. They are concerned about the CAG report, which, when tabled in the House, could expose many records.”

Rekha Gupta’s remarks came after her first cabinet meeting, in which she announced two key initiatives: implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme with a Rs. 5 lakh top-up and tabling 14 pending CAG reports in the upcoming Assembly session.

During a press conference, she also revealed the portfolios of her council of ministers. She confirmed that the Delhi government would introduce the Centre’s flagship Ayushman Bharat scheme, a commitment made during the BJP’s election campaign. The BJP had previously criticized the AAP for not implementing the scheme.

Additionally, Rekha Gupta expressed the Delhi government’s focus on tackling pollution in the Yamuna. “Cleaning the Yamuna will be our top priority,” she said, referencing her visit to the river’s banks for the evening Aarti. Pollution in the Yamuna had been a significant issue during the Delhi Assembly elections, with various political parties accusing each other of failing to address the problem. The BJP had specifically targeted AAP for not following through on promises to clean the river.
