PM Modi Meets Amir of Qatar for Bilateral Talks in New Delhi

Prime Minister Modi led the Indian delegation, which included External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and other senior ministers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Amir of Qatar, Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Tuesday for a bilateral meeting. The two leaders exchanged pleasantries and shook hands before proceeding with delegation-level talks.

Prime Minister Modi led the Indian delegation, which included External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and other senior ministers. The Qatari delegation was headed by Amir Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

Earlier, the Amir of Qatar received a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he was greeted by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi. The Qatari Amir also interacted with senior Indian ministers and officials during the event.

Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Delhi on Monday for a two-day State visit. Prime Minister Modi had personally welcomed him at Palam Technical Airport, describing the Amir as his brother and wishing him a productive stay in India.

In the days leading up to the meeting, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had also called on the Qatari Amir. Sheikh Tamim is accompanied by a high-level delegation, which includes ministers, senior officials, and a business delegation. This is his second State visit to India, the first being in March 2015.

The Indian community in Qatar, the largest expatriate group in the country, has made significant contributions to Qatar’s progress and development, according to an official release. The visit aims to further strengthen the growing partnership between India and Qatar, building on their historically close ties and frequent high-level engagements.
