Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with US Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday (local time), where the two leaders discussed several key topics, including how the United States can help India diversify its energy sources by investing in clean and reliable US nuclear technology. This was confirmed by an official White House statement.
Following the meeting, the leaders, along with the Second Lady of the United States, Usha Vance, shared a coffee and further strengthened their rapport. Prime Minister Modi also took the opportunity to present gifts to the Vance children and extended birthday wishes to Vice President Vance’s son, Vivek, as noted in the White House statement.
“Today, Vice President JD Vance met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders, joined by the Second Lady of the United States Usha Vance, enjoyed coffee and discussed mutual interests, including how the US can assist India in diversifying its energy sourcing through investments in clean and reliable US nuclear technology. Prime Minister Modi kindly shared gifts with the Vance children and wished Vice President Vance’s son, Vivek, a happy birthday,” the statement said.
Following the meeting, PM Modi took to X, expressing his pleasure at the meeting: “Had a wonderful meeting with US Vice President JD Vance and his family. We had a great conversation on various subjects. Delighted to join them in celebrating the joyous birthday of their son, Vivek!”
In response, Vice President JD Vance thanked PM Modi for his graciousness, saying, “Prime Minister Modi was gracious and kind, and our kids really enjoyed the gifts. I’m grateful to him for the wonderful conversation.”
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit the US on February 12-13, at the invitation of US President Donald Trump. This will be their first meeting since President Trump began his second term in office.
