After making history by securing the New Delhi assembly seat in the recent elections, BJP leader Parvesh Verma visited his native village, Mundka, to pay tribute to his father, former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma.

On Sunday, Parvesh Verma paid floral tributes to his late father at the Dr. Sahib Singh Verma Samadhi Sthal and vowed to complete the “unfinished works” of his father. Speaking to the media, Verma said, “My father’s life is an inspiration to me. His unfinished works are now my personal resolutions. The trust the people of Delhi have shown us will guide all the MLAs to work towards beautifying Delhi in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision.”

Verma attributed the BJP’s historic victory in the Delhi assembly polls to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “This victory is a testament to the faith the people of Delhi have in PM Modi. The credit for this success belongs to him,” Verma said.

Focusing on the poor infrastructure in Delhi, Verma emphasized that the outer areas, particularly ‘Delhi Dehaat,’ had been neglected by previous governments. He expressed confidence that the BJP’s return to power, after nearly 27 years, would bring much-needed improvements. “The entire Delhi Dehaat has suffered from years of neglect. Now, the people here know that work will finally be done,” Verma said.

Verma also pointed to the state of the Yamuna River as a key issue in the 2025 elections, reiterating that the river would be a priority for the new government. “Our government made the Sabarmati riverfront in Gujarat, and as PM Modi mentioned, the Yamuna will be our top priority,” he added.

Verma’s victory over AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat was a major highlight of the elections, with Verma winning by more than 4,000 votes. Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit came third, securing over 4,500 votes.

The BJP’s resounding success in the Delhi polls saw the party win 48 seats, reclaiming power in the national capital after a 27-year gap. Several AAP leaders, including Kejriwal, lost their seats, while Chief Minister Atishi managed to hold onto hers. The Congress, which had hoped for a comeback, failed to secure any seats, marking a third consecutive “zero” in Delhi assembly elections.

The results came just months after the BJP’s sweeping victories in Maharashtra and Haryana, further solidifying the party’s dominance in Indian politics. Voting for the Delhi elections took place on February 5, with vote counting concluding on Saturday.
