As Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Parvesh Verma is on track to defeat Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, Verma’s family expressed their immense joy and gratitude over the anticipated victory.
With the final round of vote counting still in progress, Parvesh Verma is leading by more than 4,000 votes, according to the Election Commission of India. His wife, Swati Singh Verma, expressed that the victory was a clear indication of the trust the people of Delhi have placed in the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to ANI, Swati said, “Today’s victory shows that people have faith in BJP and PM Modi. The people of Delhi were frustrated with different governments over the past 26 years. Now, development will take place.”
Verma’s sister, Rachna Sindhu, also shared her happiness, highlighting the strong support from women in the constituency. She added, “I’m happy as an elder sister watching my brother’s success. I am also happy like the women of the constituency, who have shown their trust in Parvesh, voted for him, and blessed him. In this election, I didn’t just work as a sister; I worked as a party worker.”
Rachna, a staunch BJP supporter, further emphasized that Parvesh has carried forward his father’s legacy and will continue to do so in the future. “We campaigned in areas that needed a door-to-door campaign. The women are not safe in Delhi – so what good is a free bus service? The women saw hope in the BJP,” she stated.
Parvesh’s daughters, Trisha and Sanidhi, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the people of New Delhi for their unwavering support. “We thank the people of New Delhi for their support. The people of Delhi will never make the mistake of giving a second chance to someone who governs by telling lies… We knew there would be a clear victory, and we were just waiting for the right moment. This time, the people of Delhi didn’t let lies win,” said Trisha.
Sanidhi added, “We are all very happy. We thank the people of New Delhi for giving us the opportunity to serve them for the next five years. We are excited about becoming the MLA. We have always accepted the roles given to him by the party, and this time, we will accept it with great joy.”
According to the latest update from the Election Commission (ECI) at 1:54 pm, BJP is leading in 48 seats, while AAP has secured 22 seats. The majority mark required to form the government in Delhi is 36 seats.

The Delhi Assembly elections, held on February 5, recorded a voter turnout of 60.54%. Prime Minister Modi’s campaign focused on targeting AAP over issues like Yamuna river pollution and the renovation of Arvind Kejriwal’s residence as Chief Minister. The PM also used terms like “Aapda” (disaster) and “Sheesh Mahal” (palace) to criticize Kejriwal’s governance.
