Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders gathered at the party’s office in New Delhi on Saturday as early trends suggested the party is on track to form the government in the national capital after 27 years. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, and National Vice President Baijayant Panda, among others, were present for the meeting.

According to the early trends from the Election Commission, the BJP is leading in 45 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading in 25 seats. Congress has yet to secure any seats in the Delhi election results.

Earlier in the day, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva spoke about the party’s lead, stating that the people of Delhi have chosen Prime Minister Modi’s model of governance over Arvind Kejriwal’s approach. He emphasized that the election was a clear contest between “good governance” and “bad governance.”

“The situation in Delhi—contaminated water, broken roads, poor sanitation, pollution in the Yamuna, and much more—reflected Kejriwal’s model of governance, which the people of Delhi have rejected,” Sachdeva said. “In contrast, Modi ji’s model of good governance is respected nationwide. The people have chosen good governance.”

Addressing the poor performance of AAP’s key leaders such as Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, Sachdeva accused them of betraying the public. “Their prominent leaders will lose because they have deceived the people. Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Atishi—they are all faces of corruption. The people will not forgive them,” he added.

The polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly was held on February 5, with a voter turnout of 60.54%. Key constituencies include New Delhi, where AAP leader and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is facing challenges from Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit and BJP’s Parvesh Verma.
