PM Modi Arrives in Prayagraj for Holy Dip at Triveni Sangam

Mahakumbh 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13), is the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, drawing millions of devotees from across the globe.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, as part of the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025. The Prime Minister, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, took a boat ride along the Yamuna River before heading to the Sangam to offer prayers to Maa Ganga.

Mahakumbh 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13), is the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, drawing millions of devotees from across the globe. The event will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.

As part of his ongoing efforts to promote India’s spiritual and cultural heritage, PM Modi has been instrumental in improving the infrastructure at key pilgrimage sites. In December 2024, he inaugurated 167 development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore in Prayagraj, enhancing connectivity and amenities for pilgrims.

By 8 AM on Wednesday, over 3.748 million devotees had bathed at the Sangam, with more than 1 million Kalpvasis and 2.748 million pilgrims seeking divine blessings. The Uttar Pradesh government reported that the total number of bathers since the start of Mahakumbh had exceeded 382 million by February 4, showcasing the event’s immense spiritual and cultural significance.

On Tuesday, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk visited Prayagraj for Mahakumbh-2025. During his visit, he participated in spiritual activities, including prayers at the Lete Hanuman Mandir, and explored the Digital Mahakumbh Experience Centre alongside CM Yogi Adityanath.
