Bhutan King and UP CM Yogi Adityanath Depart for Prayagraj to Attend Mahakumbh

Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, departed from Lucknow Airport on Tuesday for Prayagraj to attend the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela.

CM Yogi Adityanath welcomed the Bhutanese King at Lucknow Airport with a bouquet of flowers before the two dignitaries boarded a flight to Prayagraj. King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck had arrived in Lucknow the day before, where he was warmly greeted by CM Yogi, along with traditional music and dance performances.

In a post on X, CM Yogi shared his heartfelt greetings, writing, “Hearty welcome and greetings to His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan in Uttar Pradesh, the sacred land of valour, culture and cultural harmony!”

The Mahakumbh 2025, which began on January 13, will continue until February 26. This grand spiritual event has already drawn millions of devotees from across India and the world, with attendance expected to reach record numbers.

On the occasion of Basant Panchami, millions of devotees took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, marking the peaceful conclusion of the third ‘Amrit Snan’ of the Mahakumbh Mela. Tight security measures were enforced to ensure a safe and smooth experience for everyone.

The Uttar Pradesh government showered flower petals on saints and seers who gathered for the auspicious ‘Amrit Snan’ at Triveni Sangam. By Monday noon, over 12.5 million devotees had participated in the third and final Shahi Snan of the Mahakumbh, according to officials.

To ensure safety and order, an extensive police and security arrangement was in place across the Mahakumbh fair grounds. Several prominent personalities have also attended the event, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and CM Yogi Adityanath with his Cabinet.

Notable figures such as producer Vinod Bhanushali, Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin, and actress Dakota Johnson also took part in the holy dip at Triveni Sangam on Saturday.
