BJP MP Manoj Tiwari expressed concerns over possible negligence following the collapse of a building in Burari on Monday. He visited the site to monitor the ongoing search and rescue operations and suggested that someone might be responsible for the disaster.
According to police reports, approximately 20 people are believed to be trapped under the rubble, with 12 individuals successfully rescued so far. Tiwari highlighted that one young girl’s condition is critical after being pulled from the debris.
The building, a four-story structure, had been completed, with only finishing work, including POP installation, still underway. “The building collapsed at around 6:30 pm, and the police were alerted at 6:58 pm,” Tiwari explained. He pointed out that such an incident raises significant questions about the building’s construction and quality, stressing that negligence appeared to be a factor. “There is no doubt about the negligence involved. A newly constructed four-story building collapsing like this is unacceptable. Whoever is at fault will face consequences,” he declared.
Tiwari also stressed that, while questions about the collapse’s cause need addressing, the immediate priority is rescuing any remaining individuals trapped under the rubble. “The focus is on the rescue operations right now, but those responsible for the collapse will not be spared,” he added.
Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi assured the public that all necessary help would be provided to those affected. She spoke to the local administration and directed them to expedite relief and rescue efforts. “This building collapse is deeply tragic. I have instructed the local administration to ensure rapid rescue operations and offer all possible assistance to those affected,” she posted on social media.
