Indonesia made a notable appearance at India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations on Sunday, with a 152-member contingent from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) participating in the grand parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi.
The TNI marching contingent, composed of personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, demonstrated Indonesia’s unity and strength, marching in perfect synchrony. Dressed in honor guard uniforms, they executed precise movements, showcasing their military readiness and national cohesion.
The contingent’s performance reflected Indonesia’s national motto, “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” (“Unity in Diversity”), highlighting the country’s rich cultural heritage and commitment to unity. Their disciplined marching movements were a testament to Indonesia’s military prowess and the strength of its national identity.
Incorporating national symbols such as the Garuda emblem and the Indonesian flag, the TNI contingent displayed Indonesia’s unity and pride. This military participation, a long-standing tradition for major events like Independence Day and National Forces anniversaries, reinforced the bond between the two nations.
Alongside the marching contingent, a 190-member military band from Indonesia’s Military Academy, Genderang Suling Canka Lokananta, also participated in the parade. The band’s performance served as a powerful symbol of Indonesian national unity and military excellence.
This year, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was invited as the Chief Guest for India’s Republic Day celebrations, marking a significant milestone in India-Indonesia relations. Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu led the Republic Day celebrations from Kartavya Path, highlighting the 75th anniversary of India’s Constitution and emphasizing “Jan Bhagidari” (people’s participation).
President Murmu also unfurled the national flag, assisted by Indian Navy officers Lieutenant Shubham Kumar and Lieutenant Yogita Saini. Before the flag hoisting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to India’s fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial at India Gate, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country.
