Donald Trump was officially sworn in as the 47th President of the United States during the 60th Presidential Inauguration held at the US Capitol in Washington, DC. The oath of office was administered by US Chief Justice John Roberts.

Before Trump’s swearing-in, JD Vance took the oath as Vice President of the United States. Trump and outgoing President Joe Biden arrived at the Capitol from the White House for the ceremony, while Vice President Kamala Harris accompanied Vice President-elect JD Vance to the Capitol.

Melania Trump, the First Lady, arrived at the Rotunda alongside Usha Vance, the wife of JD Vance. Jill Biden and Doug Emhoff, spouses of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, respectively, were also present at the event.

Trump’s cabinet nominees took their seats ahead of the inauguration, joined by notable attendees, including former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and tech billionaire Elon Musk, who co-chair the newly established Department of Government Efficiency.

The ceremony saw the presence of several former US Presidents and First Ladies, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, George and Laura Bush, and Barack Obama. Trump’s family, including Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Tiffany Trump, Eric Trump, and Barron Trump, also attended the historic event. Other prominent figures, such as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, were in attendance as well.

Following the swearing-in, President Trump participated in a signing ceremony in the President’s Room, a tradition that began in 1981 with President Ronald Reagan. This ceremony marks one of the first official acts of a new president, involving the signing of nominations, proclamations, and memorandums.

The inaugural events included a luncheon and a review of the troops, followed by Trump joining the inaugural parade at Capitol Hill. Later in the day, Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were scheduled to participate in a signing ceremony at the White House and deliver remarks at the Convention Centre.

The celebrations were set to conclude with the First Couple’s dance at the Liberty Ball, followed by their attendance at the Commander-in-Chief Ball and the United Station Ball. The day’s events would culminate with their return to the White House.
