Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC on Tuesday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Mahayuti leadership after being fielded as the alliance candidate for the upcoming Maharashtra polls.

The Shiv Sena leader said that she is committed to the people of Mumbai and will see her candidature as an opportunity to serve Mumbaikars and become their voice.

Speaking to ANI, Shaina NC said, “I would like to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Mahayuti because I believe this is an opportunity to serve my Mumbaikars and to show that we are here as Pradhan Sewaks in every field. I have been living in South Mumbai all my life and I realise the kind of challenges citizens here have to face, whether it is cluster development, local hygiene, or open spaces.”

“I am committed to the people of Mumbai as I have been for the past 20 years and I will continue to do so under the leadership of CM Eknath Shinde,” said Shaina NC.

Shaina NC, who was associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party joined Shiv Sena on Monday, hours after the party fielded her from the Mumbadevi constituency.

She joined Shiv Sena in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, just weeks ahead of the assembly elections in the state.

Talking about her candidature from Shiv Sena, she said, “It is always the Mahayuti leadership who decides which candidate should be fielded from where. I don’t want to just be an MLA, but I want to be their voice. I believe that it is the collective consciousness of the administration, the legislation, and the citizens, that needs to be showcased in terms of good public service.”

“I assure the people that I have no personal assistant (PA), I answer all my calls, and I will always be accessible and accountable to my citizens and all my voters. I will go to Mumba Devi Temple on Tuesday morning before filing my nomination,” said the Shiv Sena leader.

Earlier on Monday, Shiv Sena released the list of 15 candidates for the assembly polls, in which Shaina NC was fielded from Mumbadevi constituency.

The Mumbadevi constituency is a part of the Mumbai Lok Sabha seat and has been represented by Congress’ Amin Patel since 2009.

Earlier, there were reports that the BJP could field Shaina NC from the Worli constituency. However, Shiv Sena fielded Milind Deora from the seat as Mahayuti candidate.

The Worli constituency will see a high-profile contest between Deora and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray.

Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi — comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress — are leaving no stone unturned to secure victory in the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

The BJP is part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance alongside the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar-led NCP.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies set for November 23.

In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42.
