Ella Purnell is poised to captivate audiences in her latest venture, the upcoming revenge thriller series ‘Sweetpea’, co-produced by Sky and Starz. The six-episode British series promises to blend dark humor with a gripping narrative, as it follows the story of Rhiannon Lewis, a seemingly unremarkable woman who embarks on a chilling journey of self-discovery and revenge.

At first glance, Rhiannon appears to be just another face in the crowd, often overlooked and dismissed by those around her. However, as the series unfolds, viewers will witness her transformation as she grapples with her frustrations and harbors a deadly desire for vengeance. In a striking moment from the trailer, Rhiannon candidly shares her thoughts: “Sometimes I make a list of people who make me feel invisible. Sometimes I make a list of people I’d love to kill.” The names on her list include a disinterested shopkeeper, a coworker who undermines her potential, and a school bully who made her life miserable.

‘Sweetpea’ is adapted from C.J. Skuse’s novel of the same name and boasts a talented ensemble cast. Joining Purnell are Nicole Lecky, who plays the role of Julia, Jon Pointing as Craig, Calam Lynch as AJ, Leah Harvey as Marina, Jeremy Swift as Norman, and Dustin Demri-Burns as Jeff. The creative team includes executive producer and writer Kirstie Swain, alongside fellow writers Krissie Ducker, Laura Jayne Tunbridge, and Selina Lim. The series is directed by Ella Jones, who also serves as an executive producer, ensuring a cohesive vision for this intriguing project.

The show aims to explore deeper themes of empowerment and self-assertion, highlighting Rhiannon’s evolution as she learns to stand up for herself in a world that has long rendered her invisible.

‘Sweetpea’ is set to make its debut on Starz on October 10, with new episodes rolling out every Friday.
