Panic gripped the national capital on Wednesday morning after more than 50 schools received bomb threat emails from a group calling itself “Terrorizers 111,” which demanded USD 25,000 to prevent alleged explosions.
According to Delhi Police, prominent institutions including DAV Public School, Faith Academy, Doon Public School, and Sarvodaya Vidyalayas were among those targeted. The same group had earlier demanded USD 5,000 in cryptocurrency during a similar wave of threats on August 18.
In the latest email, the group claimed to have planted high-yield explosives in classrooms, auditoriums, staff rooms, and school buses, warning of mass casualties if payment was not made within 48 hours. The message also alleged that school IT systems and surveillance cameras had been hacked, and sensitive student and staff data compromised.
“We are monitoring your actions in real time. Transfer the money to an Ethereum wallet within 48 hours or we will detonate the bombs,” the email threatened, further instructing schools to suspend operations immediately to avoid loss of life.
The first alerts on Wednesday came from Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Malviya Nagar and Andhra School in Karol Bagh, both of which received threats around 7:40 AM. Fire tenders, bomb disposal squads, and police units were rushed to the sites, and schools were evacuated as a precaution.
This marks the second consecutive wave of threats in two days, with Delhi Public School, Modern Convent School, and ShreeRam World School in Dwarka having been targeted earlier on August 18. Those threats were later deemed hoaxes, but authorities continue to treat each warning with utmost seriousness.
Police officials confirmed that all security protocols, including evacuation and thorough checks by bomb squads, were being followed. Although previous threats turned out to be false alarms, the escalation in extortion demands has heightened concern.
Investigations are underway to trace the source of the emails and identify the perpetrators behind Terrorizers 111.
