In a strong retaliatory move following unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan Rangers on Friday night, the Border Security Force (BSF) announced the complete destruction of a terrorist launch pad in Looni, located in Pakistan’s Sialkot district across from the Akhnoor sector in Jammu.
According to a statement issued on Saturday, the firing began around 9 PM on May 9, prompting a calibrated but forceful response from Indian forces. “The terrorist launch pad at Looni was completely destroyed,” the BSF stated, reiterating its firm stance on neutralising cross-border threats.
The exchange marks a fresh escalation in hostilities along the International Boundary, with Indian forces remaining on high alert. “Pakistan initiated unprovoked firing on BSF posts in the Jammu Sector… BSF responded in a commensurate manner, causing widespread damage to Pakistan Rangers’ posts and assets. Our resolve to protect India’s sovereignty is unshaken,” the statement added.
No casualties have been reported on the Indian side.
Earlier the same day, BSF troops successfully foiled a major infiltration attempt in the Samba Sector, neutralising at least seven terrorists. The infiltration was backed by cover fire from Pakistan’s Dhandhar post, which was also heavily damaged in BSF’s retaliatory fire. The operation was backed by thermal imaging footage, further validating the destruction caused to enemy positions.
Meanwhile, India continues its military response to Pakistan’s escalation, including a wave of retaliatory strikes after attacks on 26 Indian locations. At least four Pakistani airbases were struck in the early hours of Saturday, according to top government sources. Intermittent firing is still underway along the Line of Control (LoC) as both nations remain on heightened alert.
