Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday extended greetings on the occasion of National Space Day, lauding the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for its dedication and landmark achievements, including the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
“On National Space Day, as we celebrate the historic moment when Chandrayaan-3 touched down on the Moon’s South Pole, every Indian heart swells with pride. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the brilliant scientists of ISRO, whose unwavering dedication made this achievement possible,” Shah wrote on X.
Highlighting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah said the Chandrayaan-3 mission had opened new frontiers for India’s space exploration and inspired a renewed spirit of innovation among the youth.
“Under the visionary leadership of Modi Ji, this landmark mission has opened new frontiers in space exploration and sparked a renewed spirit of innovation and purpose among our youth,” he stated.
The Home Minister further noted that India would continue to transform its aspirations into achievements. “From Chandrayaan-3 to Aditya, and the many missions ahead, ISRO continues to turn the aspirations of a rising India into reality—with resilience, brilliance, and unmatched national pride,” he added.
India made history on August 23, 2023, when Chandrayaan-3 achieved a successful soft landing on the Moon, making the nation the fourth country to do so, and the first to reach the lunar South Pole. Following this achievement, Prime Minister Modi declared August 23 as National Space Day.
The maiden National Space Day was celebrated in 2024 with the theme “Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga”. This year’s theme, “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities”, reflects India’s journey from ancient astronomical insights to modern human spaceflight.
