In the run-up to Independence Day, a group of girl students in Udhampur on Friday stitched several national flags as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

Mubina Kausar, one of the participating students, said, “We are making the national flag, and we are very happy about it. Our teacher guided us to make the flags ourselves. It will be a proud moment to wave the flag we made with our own hands. Independence Day is our freedom day, and it fills us with happiness.” She added that 35 girls from her tailoring batch took part in the initiative.

Meanwhile, security preparations across Jammu and Kashmir are in full swing. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi chaired a high-level meeting at the Police Control Room in Srinagar to review arrangements for Independence Day celebrations and related events.

Senior officials from the police, paramilitary forces, intelligence agencies, and other security wings attended the meeting. Officers briefed the IGP on deployment plans and safety measures.

Birdi directed that all necessary preparations be completed well in advance, assigning specific responsibilities to officers and stressing precision in execution. He instructed enhanced security checks, especially at night, along vulnerable points, highways, and city entry-exit routes.

The IGP also reviewed security for railway tracks, stations, and other critical infrastructure, urging strict vigilance to counter any threats to peace. The meeting concluded with a commitment to improved coordination, heightened alertness, and effective enforcement of security protocols for the smooth conduct of Independence Day events.
