As Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on his historic visit to Argentina—the first by an Indian Prime Minister in over five decades—local Argentine artists are gearing up to welcome him with vibrant performances rooted in Indian classical traditions.

Artists performing at the ceremonial welcome in Buenos Aires expressed their deep excitement and gratitude, calling it a “privilege” to perform before PM Modi.

Anandini Dasi, an Argentine performer of Indian origin, shared her enthusiasm:
“It is such a privilege to be part of the welcome ceremony. We will give our best. I hope he likes it. It’s an honour to receive him here, and we hope he visits Argentina more often.”

The artists revealed they have been working diligently to prepare a special cultural presentation that includes Malhari and Pushpanjali—performed in Kathak and Bharatanatyam styles.

“We love Indian culture. We’ve been preparing hard for this moment. Our Jugalbandi performance will symbolically welcome such an important global leader,” said another artist involved in the event.

In addition to the performers, members of the Indian diaspora also expressed heartfelt joy at PM Modi’s visit. One long-time resident from Jharkhand, now settled in Argentina for 30 years, said:
“We are delighted that someone from our country is visiting us. It fills us with pride.”

PM Modi’s visit to Argentina marks the third leg of his five-nation tour, following stops in Ghana and Trinidad and Tobago. He is visiting Buenos Aires at the invitation of President Javier Milei, with whom he will hold bilateral talks to enhance cooperation in diverse sectors such as defence, energy, agriculture, trade, and people-to-people ties.
