As part of the ongoing Operation Sindhu, the Indian government is set to operate three additional evacuation flights from conflict-hit Iran in the coming days. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita announced the development on Sunday after receiving a fresh batch of evacuees at Delhi Airport.
Speaking to reporters, Margherita also confirmed that 162 Indian nationals who had crossed into Jordan from Israel would be repatriated within the next couple of days.
“We have scheduled three more flights from Iran in the next two to three days. We are in constant contact with Indian nationals in Iran as well as Israel. The 162 Indians in Jordan will be brought back soon,” he said.
The announcement followed the safe arrival of 285 Indian nationals in New Delhi from Mashhad, Iran. The evacuees, hailing from various states including Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, were welcomed by Minister Margherita at the airport.
In a post on X, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated: “India’s evacuation efforts continue under Operation Sindhu. MoS Shri Pabitra Margherita received 285 Indian nationals evacuated on a special flight from Mashhad that landed in New Delhi at 2330 hrs on 22 June.”
With this latest flight, the total number of Indians evacuated under Operation Sindhu has reached 1,713.
Minister Margherita also echoed this milestone in a separate post: “Warmly welcomed 285 Indian nationals at the Delhi airport who were evacuated from Iran under Operation Sindhu. With this, 1,713 Indian nationals have been brought home safely.”
Operation Sindhu continues to demonstrate India’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad, with coordination underway to ensure the safe return of all Indians stranded in conflict zones.
