Union Home Minister Amit Shah marked the 11th International Yoga Day in Ahmedabad on Saturday, emphasizing the power of yoga to unify the mind, body, and brain.

In a post on social media platform X, Shah stated, “Yoga, which brings unity among mind, body, and brain, has today become a part of the daily routine of people all over the world. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, performed yoga with the residents in Ahmedabad.”

Shah joined thousands in Gujarat to celebrate the global day of wellness, which has gained international momentum since its inception in 2015.

Meanwhile, Gujarat’s Vadnagar achieved a historic feat as 2,121 participants set a Guinness World Record by performing the Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana) simultaneously for two minutes and nine seconds.

According to Richard Stunning, the official adjudicator from Guinness World Records, the minimum requirement was 250 participants holding the pose for at least a minute. The record-breaking number was reached despite the disqualification of 64 out of 2,185 participants.

“This is a smashing Guinness World Record. Congratulations to everyone involved. It’s a fantastic achievement,” said Stunning.

Elsewhere in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the main national celebration from Visakhapatnam, where lakhs of yoga enthusiasts gathered along the scenic coastline to mark the day.

The International Day of Yoga, celebrated every June 21, has become a global symbol of health, peace, and unity.
