Marking the 11th International Day of Yoga, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday said that yoga has earned global recognition not only as a cultural heritage but also for its scientific importance.

Speaking after participating in a yoga session at the Parliament House, Birla remarked, “I extend my greetings on International Yoga Day. Today, yoga has become part of the daily routine for people across the world. Yoga is India’s ancient heritage, and the world now acknowledges its scientific relevance.”

As yoga events unfolded across the nation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh led the celebrations in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, where he commended the Indian Army’s valor during Operation Sindoor and reiterated India’s firm stance against terrorism.

Simultaneously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive gathering in Visakhapatnam, calling for the international community to adopt “inner peace as a global policy” and elevate yoga into a global movement for unity, health, and harmony.

“Let this International Yoga Day mark the beginning of Yoga for Humanity,” PM Modi said. “Let yoga be a shared responsibility and a universal force for global partnership and peace.”

The 11th edition of International Yoga Day witnessed widespread participation from citizens, leaders, and global communities alike, reaffirming yoga’s place as a symbol of India’s spiritual legacy and a universal tool for well-being.
