Addressing the G7 Outreach Session on “Energy Security: Diversification, Technology and Infrastructure,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined India’s 4A approach—Availability, Accessibility, Affordability, and Acceptability—as the core pillars of its energy strategy, while also calling for global cooperation on sustainable technology and AI governance.

Thanking Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for the invitation and congratulating the G7 on its 50th anniversary, PM Modi stressed that energy security remains one of the most pressing challenges for future generations. He emphasized the importance of making energy systems inclusive, affordable, and sustainable, especially as India maintains its position as the world’s fastest-growing major economy.

Highlighting the nexus between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and energy, PM Modi called AI a “critical tool” for driving efficiency and innovation, but warned of its high energy demands. He underscored the need for clean, green, and human-centric AI development, stating that responsible AI governance and access to diverse, high-quality data—abundant in India—are vital for a secure technological future.

He also called for resilient supply chains of critical minerals, especially as AI technologies expand. “Any technology must bring tangible value to the lives of common people,” PM Modi noted, reinforcing India’s commitment to ethical, people-first tech innovation.

PM Modi reiterated India’s climate leadership and early fulfillment of its Paris Agreement commitments, and showcased global green initiatives led by India, including:

Calling on the international community to enhance cooperation, he urged that the future must be both technology-led and planet-centric, emphasizing that people and the planet must remain at the heart of progress.
