Nishikant Dubey Targets Rahul Gandhi, Questions Nehru’s Role in 1962 War and Ties with China

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning whether his family, particularly former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, was responsible for “imposing” the 1962 India-China war by aligning with Chinese interests.

In a post on social media platform X, Dubey accused Nehru of championing the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)—a policy that, according to Dubey, left India diplomatically isolated from both the United States and the Soviet Union during a critical time, thereby preventing any external military support during the conflict with China.

Dubey cited the 1961 NAM Belgrade Conference, alleging that its declarations, pushed by Nehru, influenced the United Nations to recognize China as its sole legitimate member. He insinuated that this political direction weakened India’s strategic standing before the 1962 war.

The BJP leader also demanded a probe into what he described as a questionable relationship between China and the Nehru-Gandhi family.

Separately, Dubey took another swipe at Rahul Gandhi over the Congress leader’s recent remarks alleging electoral manipulation in Maharashtra. Referring to the 1975 Allahabad High Court verdict that convicted Indira Gandhi of electoral malpractices in the 1971 Lok Sabha elections, Dubey accused the Congress party of having a long history of election rigging.

“Rahul Baba, how is the election fixed or stolen?” Dubey wrote, listing allegations from the 1971 campaign, including use of military helicopters, distribution of liquor and clothes, vote solicitation in the name of religion, and use of government machinery—all of which were cited in the landmark court ruling.

Accusing the Gandhi family of “ruining the country,” Dubey asserted that the BJP would not allow Congress to “loot elections anymore.”

This latest salvo comes amid an intensifying war of words between BJP and Congress leaders following the 2024 general elections and ongoing political tensions over past legacies and present accountability.
