On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the nation and emphasized that Lord Buddha’s life remains a beacon of compassion and peace for the global community.
“Best wishes to all countrymen on Buddha Purnima. Lord Buddha’s messages, based on the principles of truth, equality, and harmony, have been a guide for humanity. His life, dedicated to sacrifice and penance, will always inspire the world community,” PM Modi posted on X.
President Droupadi Murmu also shared her heartfelt greetings with the citizens of India and followers of Buddhism worldwide. She called Buddha’s message of non-violence, love, and kindness a fundamental mantra for the welfare of humanity.
“His ideals strengthen our faith in eternal values of equality, harmony, and social justice. His teachings inspire us to live a life based on morality,” she said, encouraging all to adopt Buddha’s values and contribute to building a peaceful and developed India.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah marked the occasion by highlighting Buddha’s teachings of unity and equality.
“The life of Lord Buddha is the confluence of thoughts, words, and deeds. I pray to Lord Buddha for everyone’s happiness and peace,” Shah wrote on X.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed similar sentiments, stating, “His timeless teachings continue to guide humanity towards harmony, self-realisation, and the path of righteousness.”
Buddha Purnima, also known as Vesak, commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana of Gautama Buddha, and is celebrated globally as a symbol of spiritual awakening and peace.
