Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held separate conversations with the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force following the Indian Armed Forces’ successful execution of Operation Sindoor, sources confirmed on Wednesday.

The high-level communication came in the wake of India’s most extensive cross-border operation since 1971, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The strikes were launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that killed 26 civilians, including tourists, and were aimed at eliminating top commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The Ministry of Defence announced a formal press briefing at 10:00 AM to provide additional details on the coordinated operation, which involved all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces. Using precision-guided munitions, nine terror camps—four in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot, and five in PoJK—were successfully destroyed.

The MoD reiterated that India’s actions were “focused, measured, and non-escalatory” and that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted. Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally monitored the strikes throughout the night, officials said.

The operation highlights India’s intent to hold terror sponsors accountable while maintaining strategic restraint.
